Ouchies!!

So, a few weeks ago I broke one of my molars. Lovely. Anyway, there was no pain, so I figured it could just stay that way. It was broken at the back, so you wouldn't see it when I smiled or such. I thought I could live with it.

But then, Friday afternoon, it began paining. It was pretty painful, so much so that I took pain medication. It just got worse! Yesterday morning, when I woke up, I couldn't even close my mouth properly, the pain of anything touching the offending tooth was just too much. I needed a dentist!

So, of course, it's weekend, easiest time to get service! I managed to find an emergency dentist not too far from our home, so off I went to see him. I figured it would just be simplest for him to pull the offensive tooth and get over with it, but it seems it was not that simple. After inspecting my mouth, he declared that I have a huge abscess under the tooth, and that I was in need of a root canal! Yay! So, there I was, totally unprepared for this major procedure, and totally in the dark about what they do. (I've only ever needed one filling, nothing more).

Let me just say... by the time I got home, and the Novocaine started wearing off, I thought I might as well not have gone to the dentist... I am in more pain now than I was before the visit! Good grief! It is super sore! I keep thinking it is suppose to be pain free now, since he 'fixed' it, but nope, not so. I figure this is normal, since he did prescribe pain medication along with anitbiotics. He wouldn't have given the pain meds if it wasn't meant to be sore, right? At least the medication helps :-)

Needless to say, I have to return to him again in a few weeks to finish the job... I am NOT looking forward to it one bit. It's going to be just as sore again, right?
