We left the morning of the 21st, Monday. The trip down was alright (from the passenger point of view). Wiggles slept some, watched the scenery some, and watched a movie.

We spent the first 5 days of our holiday at the Breakers Hotel. It was not bad, but not quite the standard of Cabana Beach, and the room was a lot smaller. We were glad it was only for the shorter portion of our holiday.

At Breakers, there is no swimming beach. The closest is about 1km away, so we didn't do any swimming in the time that we were there, but Angotull and Wiggles did spend some time in the shallow waves.
The first full day we were there, Tuesday, it was extremely windy, so we didn't attempt going to the beach at all. We went to Ushaka instead. Although their aquarium was stunning, it was very crowded, and a bit too busy for us. When we wanted to see the dolphin show, we realised that we could not take a pram into the 'amphitheater'. We refused to let Wiggles out of it, we keep him in there for his safety, now we have to put him at risk, why? Not to mention the fact that we now have to leave our pram in an unsecured 'parking' area where anyone could walk off with it, I think not! We turned and left.
The next day the weather was a lot better, so we took a walk to the lagoon further down the beach. It was about 1,2km from our hotel, and little Wiggles walked the whole way there, and the whole way back, never asking to be picked up even once. At the lagoon he and I played in the sand while Angotull had a go at flying his new kite. Once he was done, he and Wiggles played in the water of the lagoon.

The rest of our time at Breakers we just spent having daily visits to the beach and the pool deck. It was still a little cold in the water, so none of us swam in the pool. We would just sit and soak up the sun, and order our lunch from the pool restaurant.

The Saturday we moved from Breakers to Cabana Beach Hotel. It was awesome to finally be at Cabanas, we'd been looking forward to it all week. We have decided we will never move mid-holiday again though, it wasted a whole day!

Once we were at Cabanas we could really relax. We did the daily beach visits, Angotull swam a few times too. The weather was also a little warmer, so Wiggles and I took a few swims in the pool too. He loved it! The water was still pretty freezing, and he'd shiver like crazy, but he'd cry if we took him out.

At both hotels we attended their "Bring and Braai". They organise the fires etc, you just bring your food and plates etc. They also organise entertainment, in the form of Fred, a singer/musician. I really enjoyed his shows, he sings older music (60s), and I think he has a beautiful singing voice.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather. Aside from the windy first day, it was perfect! On our last Friday (Our last full day) it got overcast and windy, and it rained on the day we left. How lucky we were to have mostly fantastic weather to enjoy the sea and sand in.

Because the weather was a little iffy on our last afternoon, we decided to take a walk along the promenade to the lighthouse. It was a lovely way to say goodbye to Umhlanga.

Looks like you guys had an awesome time. The little man sure has grown some. The pics of him standing in the pool are just adorable.
Ushaka's attitude to little people and prams leaves a lot to be desired.
Despite a few hiccups - looks and sounds like you guys had a blast!!! Little wiggles looks like such a big boy :D - and like he had one of those times you never forget kwim? [TRUST me, we remember stuff that far back!!!]
